This was the first book by Nicholas Sparks that I've read, so I didn't really know what to expect. I sort of had mixed feelings about it. While it was a pretty engaging read, I didn't particularly think it stretched the limits of storytelling or make me reflect on something new. The story was a bit cliche and predictable (even cheesy at times?), and it seemed to follow a very vanilla formula for the story and its characters. That being said, I must have liked it on some emotional level because of the speed at which I went through it. I'd probably try another of his books but only if I were on vacation at the beach.
